Tar Hill is a construction and development firm founded by Andrew Ulrich, a proud Southie native with deep roots in the Boston community. Growing up as one of eight siblings, Andrew quickly learned that if he wanted a space of his own, he’d have to build it himself. From backyard forts to full-scale developments, his passion for construction started early–and never stopped.

With a commitment to quality craftsmanship and strong community values, Tar Hill specializes in everything from small home remodels to large-scale condo developments. The firm also manages investment properties, ensuring long-term value and sustainability.

Andrew Ulrich

Andrew began his construction experience in 1992 when he entered into Don Bosco Technical High School. During this time, not only did he gain the basic skills and knowledge for a career in construction, but his love of the field was born. After graduating, he went on to acquire a BS in Business Administration from Suffolk University. While at Suffolk, he learned about business on both a large and small scale, which sparked his entrepreneurial spirit. After college, Andrew first focused on developing his hand-on skills in the Carpenters Union. Later, he honed his managerial skills while working at a development firm in Boston. Rising through the ranks on both sides of the construction business has given Andrew a unique perspective and skill set. In 2010, he decided to open a small remodeling business. His commitment and success in the industry eventually grew into what is now Tar Hill.

Jose Murrillo

Jose plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of each construction site. He is responsible for coordinating project schedules, managing workforce activities, and ensuring that safety regulations are strictly followed. With strong leadership skills, Jose communicates effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and laborers to facilitate smooth project execution and timely completion. His expertise ensures that each component is delivered on budget and meets quality standards.

Brendan Linehan

Brendan brings over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong focus on project management. During his 10+ years at Suffolk Construction, he successfully managed a diverse range of projects, including 300-unit condominiums worth $250 million, as well as warehouses and restaurants. As Vice President of Operations of Tar Hill, he oversees the execution of all projects. His role focuses on ensuring that all operations run smoothly, from resource allocation to team management. He collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and maintain high-quality standards. His expertise ensures that every project is executed with precision and efficiency. Brendan is dedicated to delivering exceptional results, no matter the size or complexity of the endeavor. With a strategic mindset, he navigates challenges and facilitates project completion on time and within budget.

As the Office Manager at Tar Hill, Martha plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. She oversees administrative tasks, manages schedules, and coordinates communication between teams. This position requires her strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously. Martha supports project managers and field staff to maintain efficiency and productivity on construction sites.
